eLearning Content Developer - The Learning Network (TLN)

JOB SUMMARY

The eLearning Content Development role at The Learning Network (TLN) is responsible for the successful and effective creation of learning experience content for our clients. eLearning Content Developers will take completed learning material from our Learning Experience Design team and utilize a wide variety of digital multimedia and technical solutions to build the completed deliverables. These include (but are not limited to) eLearning, web-based content, video, audio, gamification, character animation, and XR experiences.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete and execute tasks within the course of the North American time zone standard office day (approx. 9am-5pm EST).
  • Review design specifications such design documents, style guides, and client-specific requests to understand the scope, requirements, and function of the deliverable or product.
  • Produce learning experiences using our preferred software options (Articulate, Adobe) that are on-budget and on-brand for our clients, on a wide variety of topics with creativity and efficiency, both alone and in project teams.
  • Ensure produced work is error-free and fully functional through self-review and critical analysis.
  • Ensure that clear communication runs back to project stakeholders through our company Slack channel, email, or video call.
  • Builds deliverables while having a proactive, investigative attitude, identifying problems, missing pieces, and roadblocks before they occur.
  • Attend client-facing calls (as needed) with a positive, helpful mindset, aiming to assist with the team’s goals.
  • Identify and evaluates problems or roadblocks, and develop rapid, creative solutions to remove roadblocks for themselves, understanding when to escalate and when not to.
  • Work with other Content Development team members, and the larger TLN team to solve problems and collaborate.
  • Understand development processes and best practices for emerging technologies TLN is engaging with.
  • Organize and keep clean source files and manage their versioning appropriately on TLN’s servers.
  • Track time in TLN’s preferred software and manage and submit timesheets.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Working knowledge of Articulate 360, with a focus on Storyline and Rise.
  • Working knowledge of the Adobe software suite, with a focus on Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Audition, and Captivate.
  • Understanding of UI/UX best practices and tools such as Adobe XD or Figma.
  • Working knowledge of graphic design and multimedia best practices.
  • Understanding of LMS packaging, deployment, and administration.
  • Understanding of learning experience design, adult learning, and/or instructional design is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of other L&D tools and multimedia or technical skills is a plus.
  • Experience working in XR technology in any way is a big asset.
  • Awareness of modern design standards and emerging technologies.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Approaches problems with a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Rapid and efficient communicator, able to quickly respond to and pivot around changing priorities.
  • Technically capable, able to troubleshoot and solve basic IT and software issues without escalating.
  • Logical, methodical, and systematic when executing work.
  • Fast and adaptable self-improvement and training ability, able to pick up new concepts, skills, and tools quickly and efficiently.
  • Takes a strong sense of ownership over assigned responsibilities, always reliable.

  • Effective visual problem solver, able to identify and implement solutions to graphic design or UX challenges.
  • Fluent French reading and writing is not required, but highly desired.

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum two years of work experience in learning experience design, instructional design, eLearning content development, L&D, marketing, and/or similar experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in related field required.
  • Strong design portfolio not a must, but highly recommended to provide if available.
  • Experience working with XR technology in any capacity is a big plus, but especially applications for L&D, automotive, or healthcare.
  • A strong background in any of the following fields is a plus: automotive, healthcare, oil & gas, mining, communications, marketing, banking, shipping and receiving.

Instructional Design Developer - The Learning Network (TLN)
